Warren Tredrea confirmed North Melbourne has offered Jasper Pittard "a five-year deal at over $3 million", but also suggested the defender was "happy" to stay at Port Adelaide.
Pittard - who made last year's All-Australian squad of 40 and is averaging 23 disposals and 468 metres gained a game - has commanded a big offer from a cashed-up North Melbourne.
The 26-year-old hails from Victoria, but Tredrea said at half time of Triple M's coverage of Port Adelaide/Hawthorn returning home wasn't an issue.
"One thing I have heard is he's not that keen to go home," he said.
"(He's) happy to stay.
"But he is a restricted free agent. So any big offer that lands on his table then he can re-sign with Port Adelaide, or he can go through the process of being a restricted free agent (and) Port Adelaide would have to match the deal."
Tredders said there may be an issue as to whether Port Adelaide can squeeze in a big contract for Pittard.
"The biggest issue is (whether) Port Adelaide has room in their cap," he said.
"(Jackson) Trengove hasn't signed a contract yet, Pittard another one, (Brad) Ebert another one. So (there are) some big names who haven't signed contracts yet.
