Eddie McGuire Wants Dangerfield To Stay At Crows Post by: Triple M Footy 25 May, 2012 - 1:38 PM
Collingwood President Eddie McGuire joined Triple M Adelaide's Hot Breakfast program on Friday, ahead of the clash between his Pies and the high-flying Crows.
McGuire alluded to Adelaide's soft draw, but still said the Crows had beaten some good sides, too.
On the subject of Travis Cloke being managed by his dad, David, Eddie McGuire said "it's horses for courses".
"If my son was in the AFL I'd manage him!" said McGuire.
The Pies boss also said he would like to see Patrick Dangerfield stay with the Crows, but offered him the Westpac Centre to come across to Collingwood!

Eddie And The AFL At Odds Over Video Reviews Post by: Triple M Footy 23 May, 2012 - 5:24 PM

Eddie McGuire has been running a campaign against the AFL over what he says is its faulty goal-umpiring review system.
The Triple M Hot Breakfast host has previously said the way the system is handled will ultimately see the AFL wind up in court.
Earlier this week McGuire revealed the reason the video review system was ditched after it had been called for during Collingwood's clash with Geelong was a cord being kicked out in the umpires' room (image from the scene, sort of, below).
On Wednesday, McGuire got his chance to take his grievances to the AFL directly, with Operations Manager Adrian Anderson joining the program in the studio.
Anderson, in an at times very heated debate, told Triple M the results after eight rounds of footy in relation to the review system are
- 36 reviews from 72 matches
- 40 seconds per review
- In 22 of the 36 reviews the vision has been conclusive
- In 14 reviews it hasn't been conclusive
- 4 cases that were wrong that have been corrected

Cloke And Daggers: Eddie Sick Of Speculation Post by: Triple M Footy 17 May, 2012 - 8:49 AM

Eddie McGuire has delivered another scathing criticism to Herald Sun journalist Mark Robinson, who wrote another Travis Cloke story in Wednesday's newspaper.
Robinson again drew reported Fremantle's apparent interest in Cloke, while an article written by another reporter in Thursday's paper suggests Melbourne will have a crack at the Pies gun.
McGuire, the Collingwood President, noted on Triple M's 'The Hot Breakfast' program Robinson wasn't even able to name the group of clubs supposedly chasing Cloke's services.
Robinson had previously written an article about Fremantle chasing Cloke, leading to McGuire alluding to this week's arguably regurgitated story as 'crap'.
But Robinson hit back at McGuire on Wednesday night, and defended what he claims was a legitimate news story.
"Well, there's one thing when you have a story like this; I could not absolutely quantify who the other three clubs are. Now what you do in that situation, do you speculate in a factual story and put in speculation that could be 'this, this, this and this', and then McGuire would get on the next day and say 'well that's crap and that's crap' we go to that club the next day and we (sic) deny it and the whole story gets rubbished," Robinson said on Fox Footy's AFL 360 program.
"I can't speculate on the clubs because I don't absolutely know for sure which ones are which so you don't try and put in rumour and speculation, you try and keep it as facts."
The fact is, Cloke's contract is up at the end of the year and while other clubs can make advances towards him Collingwood will have rights to make the final offer to keep its star forward.
Also, the Greater Western Sydney Giants have now confirmed they do not intend to make an offer to Cloke.
AFL Clarifies Its Sliding Stance Post by: The Hot Breakfast 9 May, 2012 - 1:15 PM

UPDATE: AFL Operations Manager Adrian Anderson has written to all 18 clubs to outline and clarify the league's position around rough conduct and sliding into contests.
Umpires will be instructed to pay free kicks against players who slide in,where there is contact to player below the knee and risk of injury.
“Medical advice to the AFL is there is potential for serious injury. Players have duty of care to opponents to not slide with knees or feet first,” said the AFL.
“It not illegal to slide to contest the ball but players must be aware of potential injury if sliding into opponent’s knees / ankles.”
The AFL will also re-examine its guidelines around rough conduct for the Tribunal in serious cases where injury may occur.
WEDNESDAY: Fremantle's Greg Broughton is the latest player to escape penalty for injuring an opponent with a slide after successfully challenging a rough conduct charge at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday.
Broughton was offered a reprimand by the Match Review Panel after a collision that left Gold Coast midfielder David Swallow with an injured left ankle at Metricon Stadium last Saturday.
He elected to risk a one-week suspension by contesting the charge at the tribunal.

Eddie McGuire Turns Purple Over Cloke Story Post by: Triple M Footy 2 May, 2012 - 10:55 AM
A photo of Wednesday's Herald Sun back page.
Collingwood President Eddie McGuire has mocked suggestions Pies star forward Travis Cloke will end up at Fremantle, as has been put up in a report on Wednesday.
The Herald Sun ran a story based on a statement issued to the paper by Fremantle saying "we will speak to a range of player managers about the contract status of a number of players who are on the AFL's free agency list".
The Dockers refused to confirm they are going after Cloke, for what the report suggested could be for $1 million per season.
However, this didn't stop the newspaper running a digitally-altered image of Cloke in a Freo jumper, which McGuire joked had his head turning purple.
