Mobile Phone Solves Rubik's Cube Post by: CK 11 May, 2010 - 3:32 PM

Remember when you were a kid and you got so frustrated at the smart little overachievers who could solve Rubik's Cube in no time at all?

Well get the cube out of the third drawer because some wacky inventor has come up with a way to solve that old Rubik cube with a mobile phone and some Lego in 24 seconds!

The phone was a Motorola Droid running Google's Android phone OS which has just pipped iPhone to become the second most popular phone OS in the United States behind Blackberry. It took photos of a six sides and then sent them to Lego Mindstorms via some magic voodoo trickery, and hey presto! Done!

The machines haven't totally taken over though, watch Erik Akkersdijk solve the Rubik Cube in seven seconds!

Now that was fast, a well deserved world record, he's still a smart little overachiever though.

What's your fastest time solving the Rubik's Cube, can you remember?
