The Police
The Police Live in Sydney - ANZ Stadium
January 24, 2008
The last time I saw the Police it was March 1984 in Melbourne as a teenager, the last show they did in Australia till now. I've been waiting for them to tour again for 23 years!
They've aged, but they've still got it, especially Sting whose love of yoga and a month in Byron is seriously working for him!
The songs were played more offbeat and reggae-sounding than the recored material, making it feel like you were on a desert island on a balmy night (with 50,000 others!).. No message in a bottle needed here!
For any Police fan, it's well worth checking out guitarist Andy Summers photographic exhibition 'I'll be Watching you - Inside the Police 1980-83'. The pics are amazing. You can buy the coffee table book or a limited edition signed print - 'Set List' is my favourite... catch it at the Blender Gallery in Paddington, Sydney till 17 February.
Setlist was as follows:
Message in a Bottle
Synchronicity II
Walking On The Moon
Voices Inside My Head
When The World Is Running Down
Don't Stand So Close To Me
Driven To Tears
Hole In My Life
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Wrapped Around Your Finger
De Do Do Do De Da Da Da
Invisible Sun
Can't Stand Losing You
Roxanne
King Of Pain
So Lonely, Every Breath You Take
Next To You
You couldn't ask for more really!
