Rob Thomas Fronts INXS Posted by Eddie Ruckus 8 February, 2010 - 7:53 AM

The rumours had been floating around all week in Melbourne that the members of INXS would join Rob Thomas on stage for a couple of songs.

On Friday night, it happened.

As you know, Thomas has already recorded a couple of songs with INXS for their upcoming re-recorded greatest hits set featuring a variety of singers. Other vocalists will include Brandon Flowers, Gabriella Cilmi and Eskimo Joe’s Kav Temperley.

So, during his sold-out show at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Friday night, Thomas invited INXS out on stage to act as his backing band on a couple of tracks – “Never Tear Us Apart” and “Don’t Change”.

Needless to say, the crowd went absolutely mad!

At the end of the set, Thomas announced: “We are INXS!” Now, if that doesn’t confuse you, nothing will.

So, what do you think of Rob Thomas as the front man of INXS? Will he be better than Gabriella Cilmi?

Rob Thomas is a fantastic choice for the lead of INXS... you can't put a female in the lead... Rob was brilliant on Friday night and it was just like the INXS of old for those 2 songs!!!

It's good to see them back doing what they do best and if they can get Rob out front for a tour, can you imagine? They would sell out. Move over AC/DC, here comes another Oz favourite....

You've got to be kidding me! Rob Thomas was ok singing the INXS songs but just ok!

INXS *will* soar higher and higher but the perfect singer for INXS will be with them in Vancouver!

The only reason I would be happy to see Rob Thomas fronting INXS would be that it would mean JD Fortune is going out on his own. If that is the case, good for ya, JD! I'll follow JD's career wherever it leads. I've been a fan of INXS for 27 years, but that will end right there if JD is not their lead singer.
