In some sad news, Aussie singer-songwriter Jon English has died after complications from surgery last night. He was 66.

The English-born singer was one of Australia’s great music stars and all-round entertainers.

People with good memories will remember his starring role in the Australian version of the stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972.

He was also a rock star with a string of hits across several solo albums, while on television he starred in several hit shows like the mini-series Against The Wind and the comedy All Together Now.

His biggest singles included: 1973: "Handbags and Gladrags” (1973), "Turn the Page" (1975), "Six Ribbons" (1979) and "All Together Now" (1993).

He never stopped working and was always getting projects off the ground. Just last weekend, Jon was forced to cancel a headline show in Newcastle.
