In a new twist in the Aerosmith saga singer Steven Tyler has revealed the rockers will begin work on a new album... next Saturday!

According to the Sleaze Roxx website Steven Tyler told journalists that he and guitarist Joe Perry have a bunch of songs and they're ready to rock.

"We've certainly been writing," Steven said. "I know Joe has got some licks and I've got a bunch of songs that I've written for solo and/or Aerosmith, and next Saturday, we start."

Recording sessions will take place in Los Angeles, where Steven is starring as a judge on the reality TV show, American Idol.

This isn't the first time that the band have said they're doing a new album. There have been a lot of promises made in the press over the years only for injuries, in-fighting and various side projects to get in the way of them completing their first studio album since 2001's Just Push Play.

Fingers-crossed the guys can put the egos aside and do what they do best - and that's make an Aerosmith record that rocks.

  Will be fantastic to see some new material from the boys and what would make this even better would be a world tour including Australia which is very long overdue.

  it's great that aerosmith has a new album coming but they haven't been to oz since 1989 and i'm really pissED off that they HAVEN'T come down SINCE.

  So steve and the boys better come down this year.

  COME ON TRIPLE M MAKE SURE THAT THEY DO ROCK ON.
