The dirty secret behind Dave Grohl’s boundless energy has finally been revealed and it ain’t pretty.

New footage just released from the recording sessions of Them Crooked Vultures’ debut album show a manic drummer on the edge, a junkie just waiting for his next hit.

Dave’s poison? The old “go juice”, Columbia’s finest “black venom”. What we here in Australia call a caffeine fix.

Yes, Dave Grohl has a serious coffee addiction, and it’s no joking matter. Well, sort of no joking matter.

His bandmates have released this compilation clip of Dave looking for his next hit while in the studio and it makes for hilarious/disturbing viewing.

At the end of the video, a caption explains: “Two weeks after this video was shot, Dave was rushed to doctor due to the onset of unwanted physical effects caused by too much caffeine. For reals. He was kind of a mess.

“Since then he has reduced his intake of the super delicious hot beverage to a healthier level.”

We’re expecting the new Foo Fighters’ album will to be a decaf affair.
