Empire Of The Sun Split Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 24 September, 2009 - 7:18 AM
Empire Of The Sun’s Luke Steele has revealed that he’s been flying solo for most of this year following the mysterious disappearance of his band-mate, Nick Littlemore.
Empire Of The Sun are set to deliver their first ever live concert performance this weekend as part of the Parklife travelling music festival, which kicks off this Saturday at the Botanic Gardens in Brisbane and then plays Perth on Sunday.
The live version of Empire Of The Sun will feature Steele upfront, backed up by members of Adelaide outfit The Swiss, but no Nick Littlemore.
In fact, Steele says he hasn’t seen or heard from his bandmate in five months and doesn’t know whether he’s still in the band or not.
“Last I heard he’s in Canada and then he’s in Vegas,” says Steele. “He’s just left me with the baby.”
Which helps explain why Littlemore hasn’t appeared in either of the Empire’s last two videos or in any recent publicity shots.
Regardless, Steele promises to deliver magical performances for anyone attending any of the Parklife shows around the country.
“It’s pretty special,” he says. “The level of epic ecstasy intensity will differ, but it’s quite grand and we've got a pretty cooking band to play these songs.”
Are Empire Of The Sun the most bizarro outfit ever? Who would be your other nominees?

Does that mean these guys will finally go away? Their music is pure crap, and anyone who plays their carp should be shot on sight.

What a load of toss. Empire of the Sun are an embarrassment to music and a greater embarrassment fo Australia. The only thing Epic about this band is how epically crap they are.

Hi Christine.
I don't think all Australian music is embarrassing. I do, however, think that Empire of the Sun are.
You can dress like a freak if you want - that's cool, but you should be able to back it up with good music.

David, for listening to the this crap YOU have proven yourself to be in the lowest section of society and therefore deemed not neccessary for the forward advancement of mankind. Please, take your place on the wall and better luck next life.

Yo. Adam.
Clearly it is YOU who is the lowest section of society, unfortunately too bigoted and idiotic to know good music and innovative creativity when you see it.
And even if you don't like their music, how about you just TURN IT OFF and listen to some emo f***ing garbage or whatever it is you listen to while wanking and crying in your single bed.
Good luck with the rest of your unfortunate life.

While I'm not a massive fan of Empire of the Sun, or even Luke Steele;s old band The Sleepy Jackson, I'm convinced that this guy is a real talent.
He has an originality that is sorely lacking in some of the more celebrated Aussie bands which I won't care to name.
