Foo Fighters Return Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 3 July, 2009 - 7:39 AM
It’s been pretty quiet on the Foo Fighters front for a while, but all that changes this weekend when the band reforms for a very special one-off show at the behest of President Obama.
The Foo Fighters have been invited to perform on the lawns of the White House as part of this weekend’s Fourth Of July celebrations. Can’t imagine that happening while Bush was still president!
Dave Grohl is said to be pumped about playing for Obama, so much so that he’s interrupting recording sessions with his new band.
The as-yet-unnamed supergroup features Dave on drums, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme on guitar and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones on bass.
It was Homme’s Aussie wife Brody Dalle who spilt the beans on the sessions. “I’m not at liberty to talk about it,” she said, “but I think it’s pretty f**king amazing. Just beats and sounds like you’ve never heard before.”
Dave had previously talked about making music with these two guys as far back as 2005. “That wouldn’t suck,” he said back then.
While Dave’s kept a low profile recently, staying at home playing dad, he did make a recent public appearance, as a guest judge on the US version of Top Chef. He's a funny bastard, isn't he?
What would you prefer to hear next – a new Fooies’ record or whatever this supergroup has to offer?

Supergroup for sure. Last Foo Fighters record was kinda boring to be honest. I think we have heard the best of them.
Josh and Dave have already made magic together with songs from the deaf whatever comes next will be creative and exciting.
