Green Day’s Gig Of The Year Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 17 December, 2009 - 7:37 AM

F**king WOW!!! What else can be said about Green Day’s farewell show in Melbourne last night? Concert-Of-The-Year!!!

Even by Green Day’s own high standards, this was one for the ages.

Billie Joe and the band seemed determined to make up for any stress caused to fans by postponing the last show of their Oz tour by 24 hours.

And, boy, did they do that, filling their three-hour set with a bunch of rarely played classics, like “Redundant”, “One For The Razorbacks”, “Going To Pasalacqua” and “Coming Clean”.

“We had to postpone because one of us had to do a little time on the toilet,”  BJ joked with the crowd early in the set. “There’s nothing like an old dysentery to give you a real cleanse.”

And it seemed to do the job – Billie Joe didn’t miss a beat and spent the night running a virtual marathon across the stage.

During “King For A Day”, the band was joined on stage by a bevy of strippers. It was madness, awesome.

What a way to end one of the best international rock tours we’ve seen in this country all decade.

Thank you Green Day – please come back very soon.

Who was there? What were some of your favourite moments?

"Who was there? What were some of your favourite moments?"

I was there, and my most favourite moment was being the first person picked by Billie to come on stage to be "saved". One in the middle with the red hair, yep, that's me. :D
