UPDATE: Guns N' Roses have been confirmed to play additional Aussie shows in Townsville and Adelaide, with special guests Korn.

Massive news about a huge, huge rock act. Guns N Roses will headline the Telstra 500 V8 Supercars in Sydney!

Yes, Axl Rose will actually be in the country. How good is that! Rest assured we'll be trying as hard as humanely possible to get one of our favourite rockers in our studios.

However, in a strange - or maybe predictable - turn of events Axl has already started causing problems.

Following the official announcement this morning, Axl demanded the withdrawal of all his quotes used on the official press release that was sent around the country.

And it's not as if he said anything controversial. He just talked about how couldn't wait to get into a fast car and was loving the prospect of playing in Australia again.

We'll see what happens but we assume the organisers know about Axl's notoriously diva-like reputation when it comes to touring and playing live.

Whatever the case the show promises to be 'classic Axl' and he's left the door open for more shows in other cities.

It will be the Gunners first shows in Australia since 2007.

Five Aussie artists will be joining the Gunners at the Sydney Telstra 500 show, including: The Angels, Mondo Rock, James Reyne, Spiderbait and The Delta Riggs.

Tickets for Sydney are on sale now, while Townsville and Adelaide go on sale September 7.

This is awesome... however, will this include the entire band? Slash, Duff and co.? Or will it be just a bunch of session players?

    Hey Joe B,

Unfortunately not. Axl will be bringing his own band including guitarist/songwriter Dj Ashba who has officially replaced current NIN guitarist Robin Finck.

Dj Ashba co-wrote and co-produced Motley Crue's latest album Saints of Los Angeles.

    PS
Slash will be here in August though!

Joe B, most of this line up has been with GnR for between 5 & 10 years and Dizzy has been there since Use Your illusion.

This band is not just a bunch of session players, they are an awesome outfit and will blow everyone away in December.

I guess this is good... I wonder how much of a set he will bother to actually play?

I can't say I'd bother going (not that I can, different state), it's not the same band now and it never will be. And Guns n Roses is my favourite band but ONLY with its original line up... it doesn't sound the same anymore.

But good on them for still getting out here
