Homebake: A Slice Of Heaven Post by: Music 6 December, 2009 - 8:17 PM
Set in Sydney's Domain, the air alone was enough to make this year's Homebake the perfect start to the summer festival season.
Flowing beers, beautiful babes, Aussie music and louts being chased by cops - what more could you ask for? And how about the weather? Perfect!

With four stages operating there was basically a band on every minute of the day. And there was definitely something for all.
Bigger acts like Jet, Powderfinger and Hilltop Hoods delivered powerhouse sets that had the crowds going and the beers flowing, while old faves such as Grunge legends Tumbleweed and Tim Finn took their fans on a trip down memory lane.
All in all, Beers + Mates + Good Music = Great Times.
Highlight: Powderfinger closing the night was pure spectacle and the singalongs must have been heard all over Australia.
Lowlight: The lines for alcohol and toilets are a norm for rock festivals these days. We need it stopped!
Rating: 4/5
How was Homebake for you? Did you have a good time?

I had an awesome day. My faves were definitely The Underground Lovers. I used to see lots of gigs back in the day and they were always one of my faves.
Yeah, the queues for buying a beer were pretty over the top but I've pretty much gotten used to it these days.

I go to stacks of gigs and festivals every year and Homebake is consistently the best festival hands down.
How good were Powderfinger and the Hilltop Hoods?? Bloody hell, they were great.
While the Hopetoun stage threw some pleasant surprises including the breezy pop of Jonathan Boulet. I had no idea who they were but they very, very good.
Yes, Homebake rocked!
