JD Fortune was back fronting INXS yesterday in Canada and it was as if no bad blood ever existed between the singer and the band.

Contrary to what Jon Farriss led us to believe in the lead-up to INXS’s Olympic show, Fortune actually fronted the band for virtually the whole concert, as opposed to being just a special guest on a couple of songs.

The band’s hour-long set, performed to a packed BC Place arena in Vancouver, was wall-to-wall classic hits.

It must be said, from the footage we’ve seen, we don’t know why the hell INXS would want to get rid of this guy [as long as he stays off the coke].

JD ended his comeback show by telling the crowd: “We’re INXS and we’ll catch you on the rebound.”

Yet, as soon as the show was over, Jon Farriss again reiterated to the media that Fortune’s role up front was only temporary at best.

“Now we have been working on this album with the calibre of guests we have, we want to be more flexible and open about every show and who is on stage with us,” Farriss told Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph immediately after the gig.

“The band will always be the band. But each show might bring something different. Tonight, JD was a guest. Everyone gets it, there’s no ambiguity.”

No ambiguity? Are you serious? Is that right, JD? It that how you see it? No ambiguity? Hmm?

Farriss also clarified that the band’s re-recorded greatest hits album is due in October. Also this morning, the official INXS website went off-air, with a message explaining a new website will be launched in early April.

  Wake up INXS and roll with JD. Otherwise just give up the gig and take a pension. Accept that he's younger and might take some drugs.

  Someone please explain why I would want to go to a show where I don't even know who the lead singer will be.
  

  JD is the perfect lead singer for you and was incredible at the Vancouver show.
  

  This guest singer concept is crap and as a fan (former?) I'm not interested!

  WOW JD rocked at the Olympics... why, WHY would INXS want any other frontman than one that rules the stage... the connection to the audience, the look, the impeccable vocals, the strut!!! Hmmmmm, makes me wonder.

  O.K, I've never been to a show with Michael up front but I've been to 2 shows each where J.D Fortune and Jon Stevens were leading singer (neither will replace Michael ) but I
  closed my eyes when Jon was there and I would've sworn it was Michael.

  I know they're about to release an album with all different lead singers but why not give Jon another go???

  Guest singer concept is ridiculous, if you ask me.
  They had the ULTIMATE perfomer with a hell of a voice and they turn him down for guest singers.

  Rob Thomas - great doing his stuff, not so great doing INXS
  Choir - sucked
  D. De Corral - sucked
  

  And you think the guest singer stunt is gonna give you the best? Come on guys Wake up and smell the vegemite!!!

  INXS need JD Fortune, he is the next best to Michael Hutchence. If they tour with him I will be there, without him not. All the other fill-ins ie Jon Stevens etc were crap. At lease JD can sing INXS songs.

  JD Fortune is the band's future. He does their back catalogue outstandingly. His songwriting talent is brilliant just what the band needs. And he looks gorgeous in black leather pants.

  JD Fortune looked and sounded amazing at the 2010 Olympic concert
  with INXS
  He gave a flawless gold medal performance
  There isn't anyone who could have done it like JD
  He sings every INXS song perfectly
  It's like they wrote every song together
  INXS may be going in a different direction .. however we want a frontman who can carry the show with natural talent and charisma and that is JD Fortune
  Guess singers can add to the show for INXS but they still need JD to front them

  I would prefer JD...The idea of guest singers doesn't thrill me whatsoever and I've been a fan for well over 20 years. PLEASE tour with JD guys...even if it's just this one last time! Thanks for your consideration.
