INXS' announcement last week of a festival tour across Australia may lead to a full-blown world tour according to INXS' Tim Farriss.

Speaking to Triple M's Becko ahead of their headlining spot on the A Day In The Green festival, Farriss revealed that a world tour is likely to follow the release of their new album at the end of the year.

"Oh yeah, this is it. We're warming up," Farriss exclaimed. "We want to put together an amazing INXS show that people have never seen before. We're working really hard on coming up with something brilliant.

"The new record is sounding amazing," he continued. "I think it's going to turn a lot of peoples heads."

The new album will be a covers album of their own songs - a re-recorded mix of hits and album tracks using different singers for each song. And judging from the Rob Thomas track that's been doing the rounds it sounds like this album will turn a lot of heads.

"Through the whole process we've had [many] singers sing on so many different songs and it's just overwhelming. We can't really give away names but some of the people will just blow peoples minds.

"It's going to be really, really fun to try and play it live," he laughed.

Of course, INXS begin a tour next January as part of the A Day On The Green festival. And Farriss says there may be some guest appearances.

"We're headlining the whole thing," he said. "We've got some great people playing with us and a few surprises that I can't tell you about. We've got people from all over the world coming with us."

INXS RETIRE NOW!! The new album is a bunch of greatest hits "re-imagined." What's next? A bunch of greatest hits sung backwards!! Boy do these old guys miss Michael.

You have got to give it to the boys.... how to still tour and release albums without a lead singer!!

Give it up now and just go back to surfing.

RETIRE NOW. You're a bit like Kiss - a bunch of greatest hits. The surf is calling.

For a band to say no to the use of songs in the Hutchence film just shows you how cold they are.

Not the news I was looking for!! I couldn't give a damn about what you are doing these days! You are nothing without the name Hutchence, no matter how much you are trying to erase your past!! Your past is what made you great! It's so pathetic everything that you are doing!!
