Does Train's Pat Monahan have what it takes to fill the role of Michael Hutchence?
That's what we're asking ourselves after viewers of Channel Seven's Sunrise show got a special treat when INXS and the Train singer dropped in to perform live on the breakfast show.
As you can see in the video we secured from Sunrise, they did a version of "Beautiful Girl" (which appears on the new INXS album, Original Sin).
Indeed, INXS and Train have been playing together at the Day On The Green concerts across Australia over the past couple of weeks. And by all accounts they've been blowing audiences away with some top notch performances.
The San Francisco rockers are the support for the tour, but singer Pat has been joining INXS on stage each night to sing "Beautiful Girl".

Talk about destroying a beautiful song and there was nothing live about that performance except for the vocal.
Great they are giving away a guitar for the flood relief... now how about paying royalties to MH and for Tiger?

I saw INXS and Train Live at the Hunter Valley and have to say it was amazing. Pat did a fine job on the song, JD was amazing as well but this rendition is awesome.
INXS are great and always will be no matter who they have singing.
The boys know what they are doing.
And Hutch will never ever be forgotten!

With all respect to Pat, JD Fortune's performance of Beautiful Girl at the Olympics just blows away Pat's version. JD captured the magic of the song to perfection and his vocals made the song soar.
JD Fortune is INXS's lead singer -- end of story.

With ALL due respect to INXS (LOYAL fan since 1982), AND Pat and Train (have three of their albums as well!)... NOBODY but JD Fortune belongs behind the mic for INXS. PERIOD.
I watched the performance... sorry to say it was merely average at best. Just a man singing a song. The difference between Pat singing it and JD singing it... MILES and MILES of EMOTION.
JD sang it in Vancouver Feb 2010 for the Olympics and from that day on I prayed that no one else would ever sing it again besides HIM. It was just THAT GOOD. JD is the lead singer of INXS, and since Dear Michael moved along on his journey, there has never been anyone more right for this band.

Good Grief MMM! Sigh.... Pat is fantastic as the lead singer of TRAIN who are a great band doing great music.
INXS is doing FANTASTIC with JD FORTUNE up front. And good grief - let them do their thing! There is no reason that Kirk, Andrew, Jon, Tim and Garry should stop living and sharing their music .... and JD Fortune is a great front man that gives them opportunity to all ply their art.
Look how many people have enJOYed their music this past week in Australia....
