Led Zep Is Dead Post by: MMMusic 5 February, 2009 - 7:33 AM

Finally, it’s now set in stone – sorry kids [and all you grandparents out there], but the Led Zeppelin reunion, it ain’t gonna happen, ever.

Fathead Robert Plant [seriously, his head is huge in real life] reaffirmed yesterday that he will never again step on stage with the other surviving members of Led Zep because the whole thing feels incomplete without the group's original drummer, John Bonham, who died in 1980, which led to the band splittiing up in the first place.

That must make Bonham’s son Jason feel real good about himself – he stepped in as Zep’s replacement stickman for their one-off reunion show in London in 2007. Obviously the fathead doesn’t care whose feelings he tramples on.

“The reason that it stopped [in 1980] was because we were incomplete, and we’ve been incomplete now for 29 years,” Plant explained.

“To visit old ground is delicate thing to do, and the disappointment that could be there once you commit to that and the comparisons to something that was basically fired by youth, it’s very hard to do it justice.”

Not that something like that has ever stopped The Rolling Stones. Or The Eagles. Or U2. Or, or, or …

Thankfully, Plant also revealed that he’s planning another duets record with Alison Krauss, and their stuff is just as good as Led Zep [cough! cough!]. The two are performing on the Grammys this weekend … like anyone cares.

What do you think? Should Led Zep tour without Plant or is he right?

Memo to Led Zepelin fans: It's over dude! It's over. Forget about it and, here's a novel idea, why not listen to some new music instead!

Get off the crack Dave, if half the new music was anywhere near as good as the Zep then I would listen to it. All those angsty emo bands make me angry. Jimmy page has more talent in his little finger than half those bozo's.

Led Zepp is awesome. And Robert Plant is pussing out, you know why? He hasn't accepted that shit happens and he won't even be happy enough to let John Bonham's son Jason fill in his father's shoes.

I would've thought he would think that would be great. Or He's just denying that without Led Zepp He'll never acheive the same level of status of famous he got in the 60's and 70's and early 80's.

I agree with Plant, it just won't do justice to what magic they had as a quartet back in the day, they produced a lot of work and all of it is awesome, pretty high benchmark to try to get back up to almost 30 years later.

Anyway all the young fans who never saw the band live, join the huge list of those of us who lived in the day and never saw them either.
