Listen To Jet's New Album Post by: Triple M Music 16 August, 2009 - 10:50 PM

Jet Shaka Rock

Those hard-rocking, harder-living dudes from Jet have returned to the airwaves with a new album, harder sound and strange album title.

Shaka Rock is the Melbourne four-pieces' third album and has already got fans and critics raving - and we're not just talking about singer Nic Cester collapsing onstage at a gig in London. "She's A Genius" has already been given a workout across the airwaves, but what do you think of the other songs?

As always we'd love to put your reviewers hat on and don't pull punches.

K.I.A. (Killed In Action)

Beat On Repeat

She's A Genius

Black Hearts (On Fire)

Seventeen

La Di Da

Goodbye Hollywood

Walk

The songs sound great so far, but I wish the clips were longer!

Most of them never got to the choruses, which I'm sure are the best parts. JET is an awesome band and I can't wait to buy the new album!

More of the same from a band that is unwilling to stretch.

Completely agree with rob... been 6 years since Get Born and if anything they have taken a step back.

Damn! With hearing La Di Da I can assure you this is par with Get Born.

Man, these guys are a bit limited - it's the same so-so repetoire of cliched rock lyrics and assorted riffage.

Sure, there's some catchy hooks in there but most of JET's songs are largely interchangeable with their previous records.

They borrow heavily from their heroes; bands like Oasis have done the ballads better and AC/DC the rockers.

JET are a servicable rock and roll outfit but there are groups out there working the genre better (groups who didn't get the same mass marketing leg-up initially). Try Davey Lane (of You Am I) and his band The Pictures.

It's all about personal opinion so I'm here to tell ya - these guys rock!

Well done boys - this is the album that puts them back on the front foot!

What ya mean same stuff, shit U2 still roll out stuff that's similar and so do others but that's cool cause that's what their fans first drew them in - always a bloody knocker out there isn't there - these guys are doing what they do well - play great bloody rock!

Awesome riffs and love the hooks!

Bands like Jet and Wolfmother show AC/DC have someone to pass the baton onto !
