New INXS Album Goes No. 1 Post by: Eddie Ruckus 21 April, 2010 - 7:28 AM

INXS released a new album yesterday and it went straight to number one.

The band surprised everyone yesterday morning by announcing it was immediately releasing a brand new greatest hits set called Platinum and making it exclusively available through iTunes Australia.

Within hours of its release, the album had topped the iTunes sales charts.

What makes the album so special is not so much the 16 classic hits on the set, but the bonus 26 live recordings. That’s right – 26 bonus live tracks, based on the original Live Baby Live album but spanning INXS’s entire concert archive featuring original singer Michael Hutchence.

Incredibly, the band has made the 42-song Platinum collection available for only $16.99.

The digital album comes with its own unique artwork, including liner notes from Andrew Farriss, plus a sexy cover with a hot naked model named LuLu.

The band has dedicated the record to “our dear friend and the most amazing performer, Michael. We miss you.”

INXS fourms immediately went into meltdown over the fact that the record features no tracks with JD Fortune.

Should the new INXS greatest hits set have included anything off the Switch album?

J.D. Fortune rocks and was a fantastic frontman for the band. I saw them 4 times in concert with him and once with Michael, and I can say J.D. was fabulous. Also, I loved Switch. Afterglow is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and Pretty Vegas was a really cool tune. Too bad. Bring back J.D.

Brilliant. That live track totally captures the energy of frontman Michael Hutchence, and why he will never be replaced.

JD fortune was brilliant live and Pretty Vegas was their last hit that he cowrote.

The way INXS dumped and treated JD ,the band can go to hell. A bunch of has beens who lost every thing with Michael's death and threw away their last chance of getting it back with JD. Their egos are bigger than the band and JD paid the price.

John (Dumbo) F can go to hell! INXS NEVER dumped JD. They simply stopped touring for a while. He asked to be a hired hand, same deal as Brian with AC/DC. He lied about being dumped to serve his own misguided purposes and simply fell off the rails, had to get his drug and health issues sorted out anyway.

If you kept up with things you'd know that he is still with the band, he recently performed at the Winter Olympics with INXS and will continue to tour with them.

I too agree that JD is great. But INXS are by NO means has beens, unlike yourself John F.

Sent with love to the MMM people that still play GREAT OZ bands such as INXS.
    Joe.

I think you will find that INXS really wanted to have tracks from Switch on it but couldn't because unfortunately that record is still under Sony Records contract. That's a real bummer because in my opinion Sony never got off their asses and promoted that album much more than they did.

'Afterglow' should have been a major hit world wide for the band. So much for calling them has beens. One of the Oasis brothers made that mistake and now THEY are real has-beens!.

I am just pleased they included Mystify - that was my favourite song the band released (I always liked Johnson's Aeroplane and Dancing on the Jetty too)

I think Fans will be very happy with this new release.

Good the rest of the boys are still playing together. Michael was an amazing performer. JD was never going to replace Michael but hey the band released some great stuff while JD was frontman. This CD is obviously a collaboration of their early work with Michael.

JD Fortune is the reason INXS got big again! Because they did the reality show where they found JD! In my opinion, they will fail without him.

This is stupid having all these different singers on the cd, and on tour. You won't know who will be where, in what city, singing which song etc....

JD is such a talented song writer, has the best voice around right now, gives 200% when he performs on stage and is just a very caring man!

We all should get to know and love him! We would be the better for doing so!!!!!!
