Wow! This is massive news if it's true. One online retailer is saying that you'll be able to get your hands on the new U2 album from May 27.
Amazon in Germany have listed the release on the amazin.de website, but the band have so far refused to confirm or deny the news.
A representative from the U2 camp told NME: "As has been widely reported U2 are in the studio working on a new record but no release date has been set."
Of course, there have been loads of rumours about a new album to follow-up 2009's No Line On The Horizon. In fact, U2 have gone on record saying that they had in fact made another record called Songs Of Ascent during the No Line On The Horizon sessions.
As you can hear in the song that we secured from YouTube called "Soon" Songs Of Ascent is said to be more of a dance-orientated album.
The band have been working with a number of pop and dance producers including Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.
"I went to Bono's house for lunch and… I played some of the songs we'd been working on together and everyone was blown away," Will.i.am told the The Sun newspaper earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the band are set to return to the live stage in May for a US tour and are also rumoured to headline UK's Glastonbury music festival in June following their cancellation last year due to Bono's back injury.

Well if they venture down the 'dance' style route, this won't be an album that will please the masses or a lot of their fans. But hey, beats just making the same music for decade after decade.
Must be nice for them to experiment with different sounds. And it shows they aren't only focused on the commercial aspects of releasing music like almost every mainstream band is today.
Also, it is a bit like when they release Zooropa during the Zoo TV tour. Don't really look at it as a proper album. If they won't be touring behind it like a standard wait 5 years between album sort of thing.
Oh and Paul McGuiness came out the other day and said May has always been their plan to release before the US leg kicks off again but he said it is unlikely they will call it Songs of Ascent.

It probably won't be called Songs of Ascent. Songs of Ascent was the working title for a proposed album to be made up of leftover material from the No Line on the Horizon sessions. It now seems that their May 27 album will be the one they've been working on with Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton, one half of Gnarls Barkley).
The 2010 stretch of the U2360 Tour has focused less on NLOTH. Older songs or new ones (such as 'North Star', 'Mercy' and 'Every Breaking Wave' have replaced songs from the album, like 'Breathe', 'Unknown Caller' and the title track).
