OMFG – it’s actually happened. Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis and the band is apparently all over.

The split happened overnight, just as Oasis was supposed to appear on stage to headline the Rock en Seine music festival outside Paris.

Instead, a festival organiser walked out on stage and announced to crowd: “Liam and Noel have had a fight backstage. The group no longer exists. They will not play tonight and they are cancelling the rest of their European tour.”

It is the second festival appearance in a week that Oasis have cancelled at the last minute.

According to London’s NME, a witness to the brotherly brawl described it as a “huuuge fight – Liam smashed Noel’s guitar.”

Afterwards, Noel went onto the band’s official at oasisinet.com and wrote:

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

“Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

The band was scheduled to perform another handful of European shows to complete their world tour.

  Bloody hell! I knew the Gallagher brothers didn't get along, but I didn't think the band would actually break-up.

  Then again, their last couple of albums have been pretty lame.

  No matter how much they tried to talk up how good their recent stuff was, ultimately it never reached the heights of their first three albums.

  Sorry, but I've heard all of this before. They need to get on and make a decent album, or people will get jack of them fighting and drop them pretty quickly!

  Just another of the most boring over-rated bands to come out of England along with Coldplay...
  

  Let's also hope that Liam and Noel have a fight to the death and kill each other.

  Hey Greg, listen to records like Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory, The Masterplan, see Oasis live and then get back to me...
  

  Oasis haters always seem to loathe the band because of the two gobshites in it rather than opening their ears to the actual MUSIC.
  

  And naysayers have usually only heard Wonderwall and maybe one or two other tracks.

  I'm not a huge Coldplay fan either but I've actually had a listen to all of their albums to make an informed judgement.
  

  Anyway, comparing Oasis to Coldplay is like comparing apples to oranges (enitely different bands). One is the last great British rock institution and one isn't. Sadly, we're left with the one that isn't...
