Pearl Jam’s Brissy Redemption Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 26 November, 2009 - 7:50 AM

This won’t come as any consolation to all those pissed off Sydney fans, but Pearl Jam ended their all-too-brief Oz tour in Brisbane last night with another almighty classic show.

For the first time on the tour, the set included, believe it or not, a cover of Acca Dacca’s “If You Want Blood (You've Got It)”.

While some fans left the gig complaining about the poor sound quality, hardcore fans jumped straight onto blogs last night saying it was arguably the best show of the tour, right up there with last week’s monster Melbourne show.

Eddie Vedder seemed completely over the flu which caused the problems at the Sydney gig, with fans describing him as absolutely pumped.

Earlier this week in the US, a full new studio concert performance by Pearl Jam was broadcast around the country on a great long-running rock show called Austin City Limits. Hopefully some network out here will pick it up soon enough.

So, farewell Pearl Jam. It’s been an utter pleasure as always. Please come back soon, ya’hear!

Brisbane setlist:

Why Go
Animal
Got Some
Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
In Hiding
In My Tree
Save You

Rats
Unthought Known
Insignificance

Yellow Ledbetter

One last time – what was your favourite moment of the tour?

Pearl Jam were great. We were right up the back and the sound was great! The sound however for Ben Harper was way too low.

When he spoke to the crowd we couldn't hear wha the was saying. Compared to Liam Finn and Pearl Jam, I reckon Ben was maybe half to two thirds as loud.

Disappointing for a concert, but Pearl Jam proved their worth, and then some: brilliant

    For me...Brisbane was exceptional.

I agree with Pete... Ben Harper's mic was way too low. I was standing about 50m from stage... and even there it was hard to hear him. Where as PJ were as loud as ever!

Respect to them, for still giving their fans a total energy sapping performance.

Mike McCready was in mind blowing form...especially during Evenflow. I've seen them every time they've toured Oz... and they just seem to be taking their music further. All their new material sounded fantastic plus the older classics evoked screams of pleasure from the sweaty adoring crowd.

Eddie's vocal talent is just.....well, I don't know how to sum it up :)

But the range... from the ACDC cover to Just Breathe... GOLD!

Plus special note to Ben Harper and his guitar work during Red Mosquito. Loved It!

    See ya next time PJ!

The concert was awesome... Pearl Jam had so much energy, and I didn't have any problems with sound quality!

My highlight of the night?? In Ben Harper's set when Eddie Vedder came out and they covered Under Pressure by Queen..... AWESOME!

The Vedder and Ben Harper set was excellent. Could have done without Eddie's 5 minute political rant about how much he hated Fox news and how much he loved Obama. Drunken high school drop outs like Eddie are perfectly suited to singing songs. He should drop the cringe worthy amatuer political analysis.

Great concert. Pity about security who had no idea what to do with our backstage passes. In the end missed out going backstage but still a great night.

WOW! I was at the Melboune gig and it was sweet as hell. But Brissy sounded awesome. Rats!?!?!? Man, I am so jealous there. Would love to hear that live.

I thought the choice of Etihad for Melbourne sucked - s**t venue. And I also think that the General Admission Areas were poorly executed, but the show itself, magic.

If history has taught as anything, they will be back in three years but I HOPE IT's SO MUCH SOONER!!!!

The whole show from start to finish was brilliant.

Boo hoo David who whinges about Ed's political rant. Get over yourself... Ed's entitled to his opinion and most real PJ fans agree with him that's why their loyal followers.

The best concert I've been to ever. Come back soon boys... three years is too long!

Last night's show was epic!!! This was my first PJ experience and I am already looking forward to the next concert.

I saw the show in Sydney as well and it was great but last night's show was out of control.

Pearl Jam had so much energy and it generated through the crowd.

My favourites were Ben Harper and Eddie's duet of Indifference as well as Eddie's Breathe In solo, wow!!!
