Rock’s Richest Post by: Eddie Ruckus 1 March, 2010 - 7:42 AM
An urgent call out to all you AC/DC fans – the band desperately need your help.
Angus and his mates only managed to make it to a paltry fourth on the list of rock’s biggest money earners for 2009. Quick – please buy more devil’s horns to move them up the list in 2010.
According to Billboard magazine’s latest filthy rich list, Acca Dacca last year earned US$43.6 million, which is virtually nothing compared to the US$109 million earned by first place getters, U2.
According to the magazine, AC/DC last year sold 227,000 copies of 2008’s Black Ice in the US, compared to – get this! – another 215,000 copies of 1980’s Back In Black. In total, the band sold 1.1 million albums in 2009.
U2 easily won the cash race, pulling in almost twice as much as Bruce Springsteen, who came in second. U2’s 360° tour, which kicks off again in June, is set to become the highest grossing tour of all time.

It staggers me that a talentless political fool like Bono can demand so much attention. His voice is pathetic. I wouldn't cross the road to see U2.

It's not surprising U2 earned more than AC/DC. They charge almost twice as much for a show compared to AC/DC. As far as U2 go, if I wanted a political lecture I would listen to Gillard and Abbott instead of listening to Bono.

As a vocalist I can say, Bono in the 80's was one of the Top vocalists of all the times, compared to Freddie Mercury, Bruce Dickinson, Sting, it's not easy to Sing: Bad, Pride (in the name of love) or even Paul McCartney, Helter Skelter in the original Key without losing the body of his voice, he had my respect as a fantastic singer he is.
