Slash rocked the show at the Sunset Strip Festival over the weekend alongside one of the guest-stars of his new record, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie.

The Sunset Strip Music Festival was staged all weekend on LA's iconic Strip, celebrating the birthplace of sleazy rock 'n' roll and the bands that lived it. From Motley Crue to Guns 'n' Roses, from Van Halen to The Doors (the house band for the Strip's legendary Whisky A Go Go in the 60's).

The SSMF honoured Slash, a true icon of the Sunset Strip, for his contribution to the local scene.

"Picking up a guitar in West Hollywood, learning how to play in West Hollywood ... starting a band, making it in West Hollywood... The Sunset Strip is such a part of me," a clearly emotional Slash told the crowd.

Slash and Fergie not only rocked Gunners classics at the Sunset Strip Music Festival, an all-local affair which also featured former Strip regulars Smashing Pumpkins, hilarious mock rockers Steel Panther and 50+ local bands in a series of concerts, the dangerous duo also filmed a music video!

Slash and Fergie's song together is Beautiful Dangerous, and Fergie is also collaborating creatively with the guitar legend on the "concept" video clip. "(The) concept is twisted; Fergie's idea," Slash reveals.

Whilst we were very skeptical of Fergie's rock and roll pedigree - she's best known for helping the Black Eyed Peas become even more commercial - she proves she does at least have the pipes for the job. In fact, Slash told Triple M's Ugly Phil she "blew his mind" at their first meeting, backstage rehearsing for a charity concert with the Black Eyed Peas.

"[She has] one of the best female rock voices I've heard in 20 years," Slash told Ugly Phil.

"She was raised as a rock singer," Slash told Triple M. "It was great for her to have an outlet to where she could show her rock chops, and it was great for me to be the first guy to record her doing it," Slash continued.

"I didn't know what she looked like, so I was expecting a black girl, or Puerto Rican chick from listening to their record. So here's this little blonde chick from Orange County, and she got up and she did Black Dog, by Zeppelin, and just blew my mind," Slash revealed.

Well, our jury's still out on this one, Slash, but we'll check out any future tracks and call it as we see it.

What do you think of Fergie's performance with Slash?
