Top 5 Worst Covers Of All Time Post by: Rodney Sandwich 29 November, 2011 - 8:26 AM
Covering other band's songs is a time-honoured tradition. Check out some of the worst covers of all time... and one of our favourites!
1. Celine Dion Covering AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long
We've uncovered footage from the 2002 VH1 Divas Las Vegas Concert where the slightly mad Dion duets with fellow ballad-belter Anastacia to cover AC/DC classic 'You Shook Me All Night Long'. Why, God, why?!
During her performance, Dion is seen playing a mean air guitar, breaking into a duck-walk in heels and singing with her trademark, whiny twang through one of AC/DC's all-time best tracks.
Despite her valliant effort, Total Guitar Magazine named her rendition the 'worst ever' cover version.
2. Professor Green covering INXS' Need You Tonight
INXS re-entered the Top 10 in the UK last year… with possibly the most repulsive version of one of their classic songs that we’ve ever heard. A couple of geezers calling themselves Professor Green and Ed Drewett are enjoying a massive hit in the UK at the moment with this dumb-arse remake of “Need You Tonight”. Isn’t there a law against this sort of bad taste?
3. Limp Bizkit covering Guns 'n' Roses' Sweet Child Of Mine
Is this the worst cover ever? That's what we're asking ourselves after watching this fan video showing Limp Bizkit giving "Sweet Child O' Mine" the rap/metal treatment.
The video was shot during Limp Bizkit's show in Moscow, Russia last weekend and while they only performed a part of the Guns N' Roses classic it was still a case of a little going a long, long way.
4. Wolfmother covering Queen
But wait, there's more! This video of Wolfmother paying tribute to famous Queen guitarist Bryan May on his birthday burns the ears.
The clip shows Andrew Stockdale and who we guess is the Wolfies new drummer wishing a happy birthday to the great axeman by doing a version of the Queen classic "You're My Best Friend"… and then this happens.
We all know that remembering the words to songs is not easy at the best of times, particularly when you're streaming it to the world, but really this is embarrassing… which is why we just had to put it up!
5. Kids covering Metallica's Enter Sandman
This cover is the exact opposite of the covers we have already viewed.
Check out this awesome video featuring possibly the youngest Metallica cover band ever.
The eight year-olds from England are becoming an internet sensation with over 500,000 views of "Enter Sandman" at a country festival. We reckon they could be just about the coolest kids we know.
Father of the drummer David Emmonds told BBC News "people are totally thrown by the quality they kick out."
There is still hope!
