BREAKING NEWS: Jury Finds Gable Tostee Not Guilty Of Murder
A 12 person jury has found Gold Coaster Gable Tostee not guilty of murdering his Tinder date, Warriena Wright.
It comes after a nine day trial, and on the fourth day of deliberations.
Mid-way through deliberations, the jury told Justice John Byrne they were struggling to reach a unanimous decision.
Tostee had been accused of murdering the New Zealand tourist on August 7, 2014. Wright fell 14 floors from his Surfers Paradise balcony after a date turned into an aggressive argument.
Tostee declined to comment after facing media alongside his solicitor who spoke on his behalf.
Protesters were gathered outside the courtroom to chant "stop violence against women".
A spokesperson for the Wright family has said the family is returning to New Zealand and have asked the public and the media to allow them to grieve in private.
She said the family would like to acknowledge and extend their thanks to the Queensland Police Service and to all involved in the case for their incredibly hard work and support.
