This may be the best tv news interview of the year.

9 News Brisbane reporter Jess Millward struggled to keep it together while interviewing Hendra local Daniel McConnell, who had helped police catch an unlicensed driver that crashed into the front of his mate's fish and chip shop, next door to his own home.

"I jumped out of bed, all I had was me undies on!," he told the Today show.

"I've walked out the front, i've seen the car smashed and the bloke walking back to the car."

"I said 'what are you doing mate you can't be leaving the scene?' he says 'don't be a hero mate'. I said 'i'm not trying to be a hero mate, but the police are coming!'"

"He just decided he'd scoot up the road and I said nah, it's not going on like that mate so I jumped in me car, mate all I had was me jocks on, I was chasing him up the street and I was like .. mate!"

What a bloody legend.

The driver, a 35-year-old Redcliffe man, has since been charged.
