Ray Martin has put his name on the petition to change the Australian flag.
"I object to having the British flag in the corner of our flag," he said.
"We have well and truly reached the point where we should have our own flag. I think we have to grow up and move on to the next stage."
Kevin Rudd has also said that if he is elected at the next election, he will hold a referendum to pave the way for Australia to become a republic.
Do you think we should get a new Australian flag?

If our flag is good enough for people to die for then it's good enough for us to keep!

People don't die for our flag, they die for our Freedom!!! We need to change our flag to make it more relevent and represent Australia. The southern cross can stay but we need a true representation of today's Australia!

We should only change our flag if we become a republic, and then only to remove the Union Jack.

Our flag is a reminder of what has happend during our time as a country, changing the flag would make us forget what it is to be an Australian and what our soldiers DIED for, in wars all over the world our soldiers fight under the current AUSTRALIAN flag.

People do not die for the flag and they do not die for our "Freedom" That is an Americanism that has seeped into our nationalistic culture. Our freedom has not been at risk for a very long time. People die at war because of political agreements/ disagreements.

Don't change it. If you must, just move the state&territory star to the centre. But I'll be still using the current one regardless.
Since topic tends to be on what top replace the old jack with:
Any 'Aussie' symbol will just look tacky. Meat pies and Kangaroos? No thanks.
Calls for the 'Aboriginal' flag tend to forget about the Torres Strait Islanders and other groups with their own flag/identity.
And Green and Gold? Colour theory with the Blue and White, it will just be awful.

, the 2nd pointer should replace the Union Jack , could even squeeze the Union Jacks colour's on it , red , white & blue points , leaving 2 points for back and yellow , to stop the arguing about who's on top we could not have a top to the star , the queens flag has blue on top , Cathy Freeman can run with the black point on top , so the colours remain in the same positions to each other but there is no law about witch is to be shown on top ( revolving on moving media ????? )
