Adelaide midfielder Jarryd Lyons has joined the Gold Coast Suns as the AFL trade period draws to a close.

The Crows have given the Suns Lyons and pick 71 in exchange for picks 43 and 67.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a career-best season in 2016, averaging 22 disposals and kicking 15 goals in 20 games.

Lyons was ranked fourth behind Rory Sloane, Matt Crouch and Scott Thompson for both contested possessions and clearances at the Crows this year while he was ranked fifth for tackles.

The Crows are hoping to acquire Carlton star Bryce Gibbs before Thursday’s 2pm deadline.

The Suns have also recruited Pearce Hanley (Brisbane Lions) and Jarrod Witts (Collingwood) this trade period.
