The Experienced Players Overlooked At The Rookie Draft

Xavier Richards

After playing in the AFL Grand Final for Sydney last month, Richards now has no club.

The defender trained with Essendon in the off-season after turning down a two-year contract from the Swans, but not club picked him up in the Rookie Draft.

Mitch Brown

The West Coast defender played in the Eagles elimination final loss to the Bulldogs and finishes his career having played 94 games.

Jack Grimes

The former Melbourne co-captain was hopeful of being picked up by another club after playing in the VFL Grand Final.

Chris Dawes

Melbourne delisted the 2010 premiership forward having played 50 games in four seasons for the Demons.

Mitch Clark

Clark appears to have ended his three-club career on 106 games following his departure from Geelong.

Courtenay Dempsey

The 29-year old held out hope of being picked up by another club yesterday, but it seems likely the Bomber will now retire having played 133 games.

Cam O'Shea, Brad McKenzieAngus LitherlandWill Minson and Matt Spangher were not grabbed by new clubs either.
