Marcus Bontempelli has stolen the show in the AFLPA's '22Under22' 2016 side - being named captain in the side that he has now been named in three times consectuively.

The Bulldogs star joins Brandon Ellis (Richmond) and Chad Wingard (Port Adelaide) as three-time representatives, and unbelievably, Bontempelli is still eligible until 2018.

He said he was "massively humbled by the honour".

“Being selected in itself is an honour and then to be lucky enough to go on and be lucky enough to be selected as captain with the quality of players is just a massive honour,” Bontempelli said.

Essendon's Best and Fairest winner Zach Merrett was named as vice-captain in the side.

Jacob Weitering and Callum Mills were the only first-year players to make the squad in 2016.
