The REAL Western Bulldogs Scandal Post by: The Learned One 7 February, 2011 - 5:57 PM
In the wake of a video surfacing which shows Western Bulldogs players getting up to a bit of high jinks on an end-of-season trip to Hong Kong, club legend Doug Hawkins decided to tell Triple M’s Rush Hour what a real off-field scandal is all about!
While some people may be up in arms about the behaviour of modern-day stars such as Adam Cooney and Jarrad Grant, despite the antics appearing to be relatively tame, Hawkins took the Rush Hour’s listeners on a trip down memory lane to a time when the phrase ‘boys will be boys’ was taken to the extreme.
Listen to Doug’s famous story about former team-mate Robert Groenewegen on an aeroplane.
Does this put things into perspective with regards to Cooney, Grant and Co?

As an Australian living and working overseas Hong Kong for myself). I find it disappointing everytime Australians make it into the international spotlight for things they do that portray our fantastic country as a backdated unevolved bunch of beer drinking thong wearing cave men. What the Western Bulldogs showed to the rest of the world is that Australia raises a bunch of uncivilized, uneducated people. What else would other people think if one of the nations premier sporting teams act like this on the international stage, when they are suppose to be the pinnacle of our society.
