Eddie McGuire To Declare War On Fremantle If Travis Cloke Becomes A Docker
Eddie McGuire said on the weekend 'no one person' dominates Collingwood Football Club as negotiations with Travis Cloke continue.
Eddie McGuire talked about his declaration of war on Monday's Hot Breakfast.
Among other things, he used ex-Collingwood player Jack Anthony's move to Fremantle as an example
"Go ask Jack Anthony, he's disappeared like an Australian Idol third-place getter since leaving Collingwood," said McGuire.
EARLIER: Eddie McGuire said on the weekend 'no one person' dominates Collingwood Football Club as negotiations with Travis Cloke continue.
There's widespread reports Cloke is being offered a four-year deal by the Pies, believed to be worth an average $800,000 a year for the forward.
However, Fremantle is reportedly offering Cloke around $1 million a season for five years.
Ross Lyon told Triple M Footy's The Rub on Saturday Cloke is a 'special footballer, a hard-working player'. Cloke was later subbed off the ground after an ordinary game.
As Lyon was confirming his club's interest in Cloke, McGuire was delivering a strong warning to, well, everyone.
''They were audacious in the way they picked up Ross Lyon late last year and good luck to them. We have no issue with Fremantle whatsoever. However, if you did pick up your Footy Record today do what I'll be doing and that is going to their list and looking at the 22-23-year-olds that you like and submit them to me after the game.," said McGuire.
"Because if we lose Cloke I will have a war chest and will declare war on the world."
"And first port of call will be Fremantle, don't worry about that. You think I'm joking, don't you? I'm not joking, I promise you."
