Nathan Lyon Rips Through Queensland With Record-Breaking Figures In Matador Cup Final
Lyon has owned the Matador Cup final!
Nathan Lyon was dropped from the New South Wales squad for their Matador Cup semi final against Victoria on Friday.
That's right: Australia's premier spinner was named as the 12th man for a domestic match.
So this is one hell of a response from Lyon.
The spinner was included in the NSW squad for Sunday's final against Queensland, and, with the Blues bowling first, ripped them to shreds.
Lyon's first over went for one, and it was followed by the dismissals of Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja and Jason Floros over the next three overs.
At one point he had 3/3 off 3.3 overs, funnily enough.
Lyon later took the wicket of Ben Cutting to end with figures that read 10 overs, three maidens, four wickets for 10.
It's the most economical spell in New South Wales history, beating a spell of 1/12 by Nathan Bracken over a decade ago.
Fair effort, Gaz - all in a Matador Cup final!
