Reigning V8 Supercar champion James Courtney has defected from Ford to sign a three-year deal with the Toll Holden Racing Team.

The move sees Courtney come full circle after he began his V8 career with Toll Holden Racing in 2005 where he finished an unflattering 47th.

It’s fair to say he has come a long way since then!

Courtney replaces Will Davison at Toll Holden Racing and now has another champion in Garth Tander (2007) as a team-mate.

The 30-year-old has driven for Dick Johnson Racing in the past two seasons and Stone Brothers Racing for the three years before that.

“The Toll Holden Racing Team is the most successful V8 Supercar team in the past 20 years and the HRT brand the most prestigious in Australian motorsport, so I am honoured and excited to join the team,” Courtney said.

“Throughout my career I have continually challenged myself and after now having won the V8 Supercar Championship it is time for another test.”

  • Unhappy FORD FAN says

I don't know how much more of this the the Ford fans will put up with. There is probably only one Ford team left in the competition worth supporting anymore (SBR). I think it is 9 Fords to 21 Holdens next year?

COURTNEY: It's a HUGE shame you did not end up in the Pepsi Ford, or even just stayed put with DJR. What the hell went wrong with the FPR deal anyway?

FORD: What the HELL are you doing? Get your act together before this becomes the Holden V8Supercar Championship!

Another #1 sold to Holden. :-(
