Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce has been fined $20,000 and suspended for one match for his involvement over an alleged incident involving a woman at a Kings Cross nightclub on the weekend..

Teammate Boyd Cordner copped a $5,000 fine, having been with Pearce throughout the evening. Read the full statement below.

Roosters Official Statement

The Sydney Roosters have today finalised the internal investigation into the events that led to Mitchell Pearce being issued with an infringement notice for failure to quit a licensed premises in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The investigation was concluded in consultation with the NRL Integrity Unit.

While NSW Police have concluded their investigation and determined that no further police action will be taken, the Sydney Roosters have issued sanctions against Pearce and Boyd Cordner for breach of club and NRL standards.

Pearce has been stood down from one Roosters NRL match and fined $20,000 to be donated to charity. Additionally, a counselling program will be devised for him to adhere to.

Boyd Cordner, who accompanied Pearce throughout the evening, has been issued with a $5000 fine ($2500 suspended).

“The club is most disappointed with the events of the weekend. The club and NRL have strong policies in place and there is a process that has had to run its course,” said Sydney Roosters Chief Operating Officer Football, Brian Canavan.

“Mitchell and Boyd have accepted the club sanctions and shown genuine remorse for the negative spotlight both have attracted to the Roosters and the game by breaching the club’s and NRL’s standards.

“Both are important contributors to our club, and the game, and we will continue to work closely with them to ensure their continued personal development off the field.”

The Sydney Roosters will be making no further comment.

Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce is in the clear with Police over an alleged incident involving a woman at a Kings Cross nightclub on the weekend.

The woman made contact with detectives declining to make a formal statement, meaning no further police action will proceed.

NSW Police Statement

Police have concluded their investigation into an alleged incident inside a nightclub at Potts Point over the weekend.

About 1:30am, Sunday 11 May 2014, officers from Kings Cross Local Area Command attended a licensed premise on Roslyn Street, when they received a complaint about a patron.

A 25-year-old man was spoken to by police before being asked to leave and escorted outside by security.

The man was arrested after allegedly becoming argumentative with police and refusing to leave the area.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was issued with an infringement notice for failing to leave licensed premises when required. He was also issued a 48-hour banning notice.

Detectives conducted further investigations into the matter including reviewing closed-circuit television footage and making an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

About 10pm last night (Monday 12 May 2014), a woman made contact with police and spoke to investigators.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, declined to make a statement to police and did not wish to proceed with any further action.

No further police action will be taken regarding the incident.

After a wild night of partying the 25-year-old Roosters halfback was kicked out of a couple of Sydney nightspots including the Beach Haus nightclub.

As you can see below, Channel Nine has obtained CCTV footage of multiple security camera angles showing an incident between Pearce and a young woman.

Channel Nine's Tom Steinfort told Triple M's Grill Team talks through the details of the CCTV footage they obtained from the nightclub, showing a young woman walking through the club and catching Mitchell Pearce's attention.  Listen below.

Roosters Official Statement

The Sydney Roosters have been made aware that Mitchell Pearce was issued with an infringement notice for failure to quit a licensed premises overnight.

The infringement notice was issued and the fine paid.

The Roosters have advised the NRL’s Integrity Unit.

From here, the club will address the matter internally and will be making no further comment.
