The verdant hills surrounding tiny Jamberoo – a tiny hamlet on the NSW south coast – have been buzzing for several weeks with word that retired Sea Eagles great Jamie Lyon could turn out for the local footy side, the Super Roos, next season.

Lyon’s old flat mate from his stint at St Helens a decade ago, former Dragons utility Jason Hooper, is the club’s trainer.

We’re figuring that’s the genesis of this fascinating rumour; which wouldn’t surprise if it were true given Lyon has senior form in bush footy.

At the start of 2004, he famously quit Parramatta to re-join his junior team, the Wee Waa Panthers.

Jamberoo locals have heard Lyon might have been on the look-out for property in their neck of the woods.

They would be delighted to have him on board.
