A new Brisbane team could be included in an expanded NRL for the 2013 season - the Brisbane Bombers, who released a promo video and announced their intentions this morning.

The Brisbane Bombers are sure to cause some outrage across both footy codes. What about the Essendon Bombers, who've played AFL for 130 years?

Sure, there's Tigers in AFL and NRL. There's Eagles in both codes. However, could the Brisbane Bombers really go ahead?

"When you talk about teams these days, you say The Sharks, The Tigers, The Broncos. Then you say 'The Bombers' [and people say] 'oh yeah, Essendon'. It just sticks," says Triple M's own NRL legend Matty Johns.

"You've got to remember that the Gold Coast Titans were originally going to be the Gold Coast Dolphins, and that changed. So I think [this] will be the same," Johns added.

"Today's the big announcement. It's not official. Somehow we've got this beautiful looking logo, and they get a bit of media reaction, people say 'oh what, it's Essendon, The Bombers?! They can't do it," Monday Night Football host, Triple M's Dan Ginnane responded.

  The Following teams are in both AFL/NRL

  *Bulldogs
  *Tigers
  *Eagles/Sea-Eagles
  *Saints (St.George/St.Kilda)

  Dont forget the Magpies brand in rugby league with the Magpies in Collingwood.

  Bombers cant be kept for one code only

  2 problems - Brisbane Bombers sounds to similar to Brisbane Broncos! Would make more sense if this team was known as Brisbane City or South QLD.
  Bombers already taken think up something new like the Titans did.

  Brisbane City Spartans would be an awesome team name.
