"I Got It Wrong" Says Harrigan Post by: Dave-O 18 August, 2010 - 10:50 AM
Last Monday night's game between the Dragons and Sea Eagles featured one of the worst refereeing decisions of the year done by experienced ref Bill Harrigan.
Dragons centre Mark Gasnier was awarded a try that everyone including viewers at home could see was a no try.
The controversial referee Bill Harrigan was the video ref who awarded the try and he was on Triple M's Grill Team today to explain how he could've got it so wrong and his feelings on being dropped until further notice.
"I'm not blaming anyone bar me on this," said Bill Harrigan. "I made that decision on what I could see on my monitor, but when I got home and saw it on my TV I wondered how the hell I made that mistake.
"It's out there. I made that mistake and I'm filthy on myself for exposing the referees to more controversy this close to the semis.
"When I saw Finchy [referee boss Robert Finch] I said 'I got it wrong and I've got to be accountable'. The decision was inevitable."
