What a night for QLD and what a night for Darren Lockyer as the Maroons win their sixth straight State Of Origin series.

In what was billed as the most important game in State Of Origin history, QLD showed why they are the champions with a dominant display defeating NSW 34-24 before a crowd of over 52,000 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The first half started like the first game where QLD had all the ball. Only this time they converted it into points quickly racing to a 24-0 lead.

Triple M's Matty Johns from The Grill Team said it was the kind of start NSW could never recover from.

"NSW are left to ponder what could have been if it wasn't for that disastrous 15 minute period in the first half," he said.

"Congratulations Queensland, and Darren Lockyer, well done mate".

Queensland survived a mini comeback when NSW put on two quick tries before halftime to bridge the gap to 14 points, but QLD ended up running away with the game, giving skipper Darren Lockyer the send off he deserved.

Triple M Brisbane's Ben Ikin said the mighty Maroons were at their clinical best. "I believe it was the sublime performances from the two old stagers, Lockyer and [Petero] Civoneciva, that laid the platform for Queensland's sixth straight series victory.

"The Blues turned up ready, willing and able, but they were once again given a lesson by a sporting team that will go down as one of the best ever in any code."

The match ended on a somewhat sour note for the Maroons with Johnathan Thurston injuring himself late in the second half (he was wheeled out after the game on a wheelchair to an adoring crowd), while Cameron Smith was placed on report for kneeing Jarryd Hayne which resulted in an 8-point penalty try.

After the match NSW captain Paul Gallen admitted too much defence killed the Blues as did a couple of soft tries.

While Maroons legend Petero Civoniceva said that after six straight series none were sweet as this one and it was a fitting way to send off an insiprational leader like Darren Lockyer.

Man of the match and the series was Maroons hooker Cameron Smith.

Here's what a few of our Facebook fans had to say about the game:

"It may not have been our best performance but well done Mini, Hayne, Uate and i forget who else scored a try. Also, Morris played well. No idea what was going on with Gidley and Pearce all night. Congrats Queensland, but how bout teaching your supporters some manners. How dare they boo Gallen during his speech. Poor form Queensland.

"Well, I can get angry and say ref's call (yes, they did play a part - albeit a small part), [but] when you give any team almost 70% of possession, you are always going to get punished, especially by this Queensland team.

It's funny how quickly people turn on Gallen, [when] the man made 50 tackles and took several hit ups.

Hayne stopped certain tries several times. Minichello was affected by the bounce of the ball. Sometimes it will stop, and other times it will take a wicked bounce.

As for Gidley, he just had one of those games. All we can do is continue working on this team.

There is great potential in this team, especially Uate, Gallen, Watmough, Lewis, Beau Scott, etc."

NSW are pathetic - no backbone, skill or pride. Queensland were great but no team should be able to dominate for 6 years, no matter who is in the side.

Ricky Stuart has now proved he can't coach at 3 levels of footy, something he'll no doubt have a cry over. Well done NSW, you are killing Origin.

    Hey Judy

that's the pot calling the kettle black in regards to the crowd booing gallen. i do recall nsw crowd booing wally lewis when he was the australian captain so before you and your supporters criticize the qld crowd you might want to do some research!!!! the refs were bad but both sides.

i thought there was a ten metre rule or does that only apply to nsw teams, you are not allowed to lay all over the players in the tackle but that also only applies to qld teams and the judiciary is a crock as well along with the one eyed, biased crap they call the channel 9 commentary team!!!! QUEENSLANDER

I have 2 points for Ricky Stewart regarding his propaganda he spread regarding this being the most important state of origin ever.

    1. When you spread propaganda you actually should never believe your own dribble and actually think you are better than you are.

    2. If this was in fact the most important origin ever then what does that mean regarding the result - you are further away from winning a series as you have ever been over the past 6 years. You were thrashed fool.

So which is it - either you believed your own dribble or you guys failed miserably on the biggest stage.

Either way you are fools - boys playing men - once you get some heart you may understand Queensland.

Ps - to critisise the refs - really how pathetic - cowards.

I knew we would lose. Ricky Stuart is a retard by putting Minichello in the squad, putting Hayne in the centres and wing, Gallen at FrontRow and especially no Hindmarsh.

Ricky - you should join Federal politics and sell the carbon tax - you are an excellent spin doctor (liar). The only problem is that your team believed you - you embarrassed them and yourself. Next time concentrate on training them to play football.
Keep up the good work we love you in Queensland - you are our 18th player.
