A major breakthrough in the NRL betting scandal that broke last year with Bulldogs prop Ryan Tandy arrested for his involvement in match-fixing.

According to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald Ryan Tandy was arrested by police following some very suspicious betting behaviour during a Round 24 match between the Bulldogs and the Cowboys last year.

Tandy gave away a suspicious penalty at the beginning of the game in front of the Norh Queensland posts. There was a hell of a lot of money put on North QLD to score a penalty goal as the first scoring play of the game.

"It was a very unusual bet and there were some very unusual betting patterns," said Dan Ginnane from Triple M's Grill Team who first broke the NRL match-fixing scandal last year.

However, while the investigation into this betting sting has been going for five months no-one was expecting today's announcement of an arrest.

"This has come from nowhere," said Dan. "I've been speaking to a couple of journos who have been following this story and they didn't see it coming either.

"And now the guy that gave away the penalty has been arrested."

Tandy has continually denied any involvement in the allegations and is currently still part of the Bulldogs setup.

More details to follow.

It takes 2 to tango... lets hope all that were involved are brought to justice. If he thought this up himself... a genius... but let's bring them all down.
