According to a report in The Daily Telegraph Timana Tahu called Triple M's Andrew Johns at Christmas two months ago and asked him to get him a gig at the Newcastle Knights.
"It's the first I've heard of it," Andrew told Triple M's The Grill Team this morning.
And does Andrew know why the Knights decided not to sign Timana? "I've got no idea, mate," he said. "I don't know what happened there."
The dual international is a man without a club at the moment since walking out on the Parramatta Eels at the end of last year after coach Stephen Kearney refused his request to sit out pre-season training.
Triple M's Mark "MG" Geyer asked Andrew if he thought Timana was ready to come back to the NRL.
"For sure," Andrew said. "Timana's a footy player and if you're in the wilderness and having a tough time the best thing you can do is get amongst your teammates and play football.
"I don't know what else Timana is qualified to do. I'd love to see him get back and be playing football and get into a good headspace."
Obviously one of the things fans are asking is how Andrew could help Timana after the pair were involved in a row last year during the State Of Origin where Timana walked out on the Blues after Andrew (who was assistant coach) made a racist slur at Maroons star player Greg Inglis.
"We were teammates for a really long time at Newcastle. I've had a lot to do with Timana since he was 16-years-old," he said.
"What happened last year, I was in the wrong. I was ignorant and I think we've all gone through that and we don't need to go over that again."
Timana needs to find a club soon. He's too good not be playing footy.

Be careful what you ask for Mick. I'm no fan of the Knights but even I don't think they need a sook like Tahu.
