Matty Johns' Predicts Top 8 For 2012 NRL Season
As we approach the business end of the 2012 rugby league season, a top 8 is starting to emerge. Find out who Matty Johns predicts will make the Top 8.
"What a weekend of rugby league... a lot of upsets, a lot of close games," Triple M's Matty Johns said on the Grill Team this morning.
Though it's too early to say for sure, Matty Johns has locked in 7 teams in that he believes at this stage will make the Top 8:
- Melbourne Storm
- Canterbury Bulldogs
- South Sydney Rabbitohs
- Brisbane Broncos
- Manly Sea-Eagles
- North Queensland Cowboys
- Cronulla Sharks
But who is the missing team in the 2012 Top 8? Mark "MG" Geyer says the Wests Tigers will take out the other spot.
"I'm with you MG. I mean, the [Wests Tigers] defense is still a problem, but they've got Gareth Ellis to come back into the football side, they're going to stiffen up a little bit," Johns said.
"I think the Tigers will slip in there and get the spot, which means the Warriors will miss out," Johns continued.
"The Sharks... what an important game [their next game] will be. It's imperative the Sharks start getting back into a winning habit," Johns predicted.
The Sharks' next opponents the Canberra Raiders can be "a dangerous side," so it's imperative Cronulla are on their game to maintain their likely Top 8 position.
