MG and Matty Johns Say "Mad Monday Should Be Renamed Not Banned"
After calls for Mad Monday to be banned, MG and Matty Johns say it should be "renamed, not banned."
This follows the Bulldogs $30,000 fine after the NRL warns that all clubs must be accountable for Mad Monday celebrations and "abide by the game’s agreed code of behaviour."
Many ex players are against calls for 'Mad Monday' to be banned, MG says "let's be serious, come on! Actually, just take mad out of it, because that seems to be the problem."
Matty Johns says "the media will be all over it next year, thinking they'll get a great story. The clubs are better off saying they're not doing a Mad Monday next year, finding a friendly hotel and book it out, have an end of season where the players just relax and let a bit of steam off, just don't say 'Mad Monday'.
MG and Matty Johns spoke out after Australian Rugby League Chief Exec, Shane Mattiske, said that "it is almost an excuse to go over the top and it is time for clubs across all levels of the game to seriously review how end of year celebrations are planned."
