Awesome Foursome: Maroons Make History Post by: Triple M 25 June, 2009 - 8:29 AM

The Maroons historic fourth Origin win was marred by a jaw-dropping tackle on Greg Inglis in the first quarter by Trent Barrett.  The high tackle left the Queensland and Melbourne Storm star with a broken jaw and sidelined for Origin and Barrett on report.

Queensland coach Mal Meninga was left wondering how Barrett was allowed to remain on the field for the duration of the match.

"We lost a man and all of a sudden we're down to 16 with 60 odd minutes to go and they keep their full complement for an illegal action", says Mal Meninga.

Best Team Ever

We've seen some incredible State Of Origin sides, is this the best ever?

Queensland started the match last night with countless injuries and plagued by a mysterious stomach bug that could have seen half the team on the sidelines.

"They deserve this honour, their place in history - it's bloody great to be a Queenslander tonight", says coach Mal Meninga after the match.

Tell us what you think about the match.

Should Barrett have been sent off? Is this the greatest Origin team ever?

Great match but what the hell was going on with the refs, can't they do their jobs - easy tries went to video ref and barretts high shot unpunished. Get with it.

Does anyone remember Origins of old?? I think you should take a teaspoon of cement and harden up - princess!! Much worse stuff than a well aimed tackle from Barrett has been let go in the past.

Remember guys this is State Of Origin which much more intense than club footie. Give the young players another chance, get new refs, new coach and lets get back at those bloddy queenslanders.

Yet again team spirit skill & guts have beaten incompetence from the bluesers and so called refs, linesmen & blind mice(video refs)

Qld was by far the better side. N.S.W. couldnt win even with the refs and video refs on their side. Not to mention that half of QLD were sick.
You dont make history if you arent the best team ever

Christine Jones R U serious.....refs and video refs on the side of NSW....get real!! QLD played better footy that's true but NSW got the raw end of the stick on most reffing decisions. Love the game of League and don't have a preference who wins but at least you QLD supporter state how it is...Refs DO favour QLD!

Just wanted to say well done Mary. QLD and NSW have both had their fair share of winning numerous games in a row, from the inception of SoO. So maybe QLD supporters should remember nothing lasts forever. As an impartial supporter of League some QLD attitudes would make you become a NSW supporter!!! Gloating is unbecoming
