Maroons Hoping For Fourth Origin Title Post by: Triple M 3 June, 2009 - 1:50 PM
Queensland celebrate victory in 2008 (Getty Images)History could be in the making as the Maroons begin their campaign to win Origin 2009 in Melbourne.
A series win would give them an unprecendented four wins in a row.
The Maroon side is formidable and the Blues have a mountain to climb if they want to start to redress the Origin balance. Queensland coach Mal Meninga says complacency will keep him busy but skipper Darren Lockyer doesn't believe it will be a problem.
However, Queensland lost game 1 in both 2006 and 2008, so will the same happen on June 6?
Mighty Facts:
Queensland series wins 13 against 12 for NSW.
Maroons match wins 42 versus 40 for the Blues.
Points scored 1331-1312 in favour of Queensland.
Lockyer has played Origin more times (27) than the whole NSW back line (18).
Price (25) and Civoniceva (23) have more Origin jumpers than the entire NSW forward pack plus the four-man bench (46). Experts Have Their Say:
Shane Webcke on Queensland win.
Triple M's Gus Gould on NSW sneaking victory.
Is a Maroon win a no-brainer? Have your say below...

Maroons should be careful - it counts on the pitch not all the crap before hand.

IF NEW SOUTH WALES ARE STILL CRYING OVER SPILT MILK FOR THAT NO TRY WHICH WAS CLEARLY A NO TRY IN GAME 1 OF THE 2009 SERIES THEN THEY SHOULD PERHAPS CONSIDER WEARING NAPPIES. TOO MANY TIMES IN THE 1990s QLD WAS ON THE BACK OF SOME BAD REF CALLS AND QLD TOOK IT ON THE CHIN, NOW IT'S THEIR TURN TO TAKE THE PAIN.

All you one eyed Queenslanders ought to look at the bigger picture. Of course your going to win the series. Doh!!! How in the hell is a rookie NSW team going to beat the Australian team! They were picked for that reason. How would the Australian selectors look if the rookies beat the Aussie team. Flamin stupid!!! Wake up!!

I am a Queenslander through and through yes. In saying that It also needs to be said that although ultimately we won the first game ( There is NO doubt about that! ), yes I think the no try call to NSW was crap. However there were also several bad ref calls against QLD. So fair is fair in love and war. To the obvious one eyed NSW supporter Michele... I would suggest you go back a few years in origin before you sook about who has the better team against a bunch of rookies. QLD to has had their share of being under dogs. 1995 saw not only Fattys first year as coach but also due to Super league crap the QLD team were a line up of ROOKIES!. We were told there was no way in hell QLD would win a game let alone the Origin series! I think its is safe to say that out of rookies come legends! Remember that before you go ruling out the Blues all together. Yes as a Queenslander it will be awesome if we win but if by chance that NSW do get there then good on them I say, it would show up negative people like your self. May the best team win.

Shelly's comments were fair about me and I'm ok with that. Well done for pointing out that I'm a sook! I will take that into consideration when I care about what comments I may make about State of Origin.
