Origin Washup - Player Of The Series Post by: Triple M 16 July, 2009 - 1:33 AM
Picture: Getty ImagesIt was predicted to be a Maroon whitewash but the Blues showed their metal in game 3 in Brisbane.
Does Blue Do It For You?
Fielding a team likely to score a series victory in the near future, NSW have many contenders for the title.
Does captain Kurt Gidley deserve your vote for guiding such a young team through Origin? Perhaps you'll forgive Luke O'Donnell for gifting the opposition with the history-making try?
Maybe Trent Barrett deserves your vote for taking Greg Inglis out in game 2?
Continue The Maroon Honeymoon?
Queensland, dubbed by some the Origin pensioners, got so close to a series Maroonwash.
Did Darren Lockyer live up to expectation or his he past his best? Perhaps youngster's Israel Falou impressive match stats will win your vote.
Don't forget returnee Willie Tonga or Cameron Smith, both possible contenders.
Who rocked your Origin boat?

Were they playing football in the last two games or hot potato? I don't recall any games where the ball was coughed up so many times. Both sides seemed to suffer from cant-hold-the-ball-itis. Very frustrating to watch.

Referee Archer's inability to control the game led to players taking matters into their own hands. Archer failed in his duty of care to protect the kicker from late shots, players catching the ball being tackled in the air, the tackled player being worked on the ground (slow play the ball) and not enforcing the ten metres. NSW team was good enough to compete and win without this blatant misuse of authority.

I thought QLD had moved on from booing players and throwing bottles and other projectiles onto the playing field during football games. The rest of the real 'fans' will now pay for it when the ticket price will escalate for added security, and less kids will be allowed/encouraged to attend matches. Football is the only loser here...

NSW had an extra player on the field last night - the Ref. How many times did NSW hold down QLD players in a tackle and only one penalty - what a joke. Also number 11 for NSW is a coward for coming up behind Steve Price and punching him in the back of the head - weak!

THe sadest and more serious parts were that the refs 'didnt ' award the last try to NSW, "DUE TO THE PUNCHUP" ???!!! - so that means if you dont want a try awarded you just start a fight anytime??!! AND... to players are sent off to the sin bin....FOR PUSHING !!! Stop panderint to those soft mummies and mummies boys, and LET then go to Soccer, Darts or Competition Bridge, and play the game tough and hard. -

Queenslanders are sounding like a bunch of sooks. Have you all been so precious that you can,t take being beaten every now and then. Thurston should get 4weeks for indiscriminate kicking or is N.S.W the only team that deserve suspensions. Its rugby league not soccer.Congrats QLD on a great achievment. Next year blues.
