Corey Norman says he is 100% committed to the Parramatta Eels after the Brisbane Broncos young gun signed to the Sydney club for a three year deal starting in 2014.

"I understand that under the NRL rules I have until round 13 to change my mind, but I just wanted Eels members, fans and sponsors to know that I will be standing 100% by my decision to make the move to Sydney.

"I have made a commitment by signing a contract and I will see that commitment and contract through," Norman said in a club statement.

Full Press Release

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels today announced the signing of Corey Norman to a 3 year deal from the start of the 2014 season.

Since making his debut in 2010, Norman has played 49 NRL matches for the Brisbane Broncos.

"Brisbane got me to where I am today, and for that the Broncos will always be special to me.

That said, I am ready for a new challenge from 2014 and heading to Parramatta next season gives me an opportunity to test myself outside of my comfort zone. Until then I’ll be doing my absolute best for the Broncos."

Corey Norman Norman did however have a strong and direct message for Parramatta Eels members and fans.

"I understand that under the NRL rules I have until round 13 to change my mind, but I just wanted Eels members, fans and sponsors to know that I will be standing 100% by my decision to make the move to Sydney.

"I have made a commitment by signing a contract and I will see that commitment and contract through."

Head Coach Ricky Stuart confident that the Keebra Park High School product can become a dangerous weapon in the Eel’s arsenal.

"Corey has all the attributes to have a successful career in the NRL. He is big & confident, has all the skills and has served a good apprenticeship under some pretty decent playmakers up in Brisbane.

"We can’t wait to get him down here and make him a part of our team and culture."

After several years as the understudy to league great Darren Lockyer, Norman will head to Parramatta looking to establish himself as a frontline playmaker.

Pirtek Parramatta Eels Chief Executive Officer Ken Edwards believes there is no better place than Parramatta for the 22 year old to reach his full potential.

"Ricky Stuart has created an incredibly tight knit unit out of his squad this season, and it is our firm belief that Corey will relish the opportunity to work inside that environment. Corey is an impressive young man, we believe he is also a future representative player and he will bring a lot to this club both on the field and off it."

UPDATE

The Brisbane Broncos plan to chase Johnathan Thurston has backfired with the club now set to lose Corey Norman, says The Daily Telegraph.

Rumours are persisting young Brisbane Broncos gun Corey Norman is jumping ship to the Parramatta Eels.

Norman, regarded as a successor to former Broncos' captain Darren Lockyer, seemed central to the club's recruitment focus on young stars.

The Eels have a lot of cash to splash after missing out on a lot of high profile signings including Josh Papalii and Israel Folau.

Triple M has contacted the Eels club who replied they'd prefer not to comment at this stage.

It is highly unlikely any club will confirm if they have signed the star before Round 13 at the beginning of June.

The rules allow the player's club to make a counter offer with the hope of retaining their services up until R13.

EARLIER ON TRIPLE M

Parramatta has signed Broncos playmaker Corey Norman for 2014 and beyond, reports Rugby League Week's The Mole.

There have been media reports across the weekend the Eels had made a play for the Broncos boom playmaker but nothing had been confirmed. However, RLW's The Mole reckons it's a done deal.

The Eels are yet to release a statement and they did not return our calls.

In recent months the struggling Eels have missed out on a number of players including Norh Queensland rep players Matt Scott and James Tamou.
