Robbie Farah Could Leave Wests Tigers After Tim Sheens' Likely Sacking?

Tags: Robbie Farah

The crisis at Wests Tigers appears it will get worse before it gets better with an emergency board meeting on Monday expected to seal coach Tim Sheens' fate and maybe even captain Robbie Farah's.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday Farah has been sounded out for a possible move as other NRL clubs smell blood in the water at Wests with high-profile Tigers players unhappy with the club releasing Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington to Cronulla.

Farah is contracted until the end of next season, as is Sheens. It's believed Eels have expressed an interest in Farah.

The newspaper reported Sheens will remain in his role as Test coach but has reportedly ruled himself out of the vacant New Zealand Warriors job he had been linked to by Matty Johns.

And who will replace Tim Sheens if he is sacked on Monday? Well Triple M's Matty Johns said on Thursday Nathan Brown could be the man.

"What I've heard is that Nathan Brown is the one they're chasing pretty badly. They've spoken to Mick Potter, they've spoken to [Wests Tigers] assistant Peter Gentle, but Nathan Brown only last night was on the phone to Tigers officials. He is the red hot favourite," said Matty.

Nathan Brown was at St George Illawara until he got the punt and went over to the UK Super League and has done a great job.

"He's had to prove himself again but I think he would be a fantastic signing," Matty said.

Matty Johns says there is a "changing of the guard" happening at the Wests Tigers as their fans demand answers.

Grill Team listener and Tigers' fan Sorbie called in as media report Beau Ryan has signed with the Sharks on a three year deal.

"Losing Beau Ryan would be like losing the heart and soul of the Wests Tigers football club," listener Sorbie said.

"We've seen Beau Ryan mature as a young average first grader into probably the Tigers' best back this season," Sorbie continued.

Matty Johns said Sorbie was "spot on" about Ryan adding "I dead set, I don't know what's going on there."

"I can only put it down to a really big change in the guard," Matty said.

Mark Geyer added over the last year "it's unbelieveable" what has happened.

"You [Tigers] let go of Fifita and Bryce Gibbs but yet I'm reading just recently, and it's no offence to him, you're trying to sign Matt Utai for a couple of years."

MG added "you've got to get your priorities right."
