Former Socceroo Robbie Slater Previews 2012/13 A League Season
Robbie Slater joined Triple M's Grill Team to talk all things footy, the round ball kind, as the 2012/13 A League season gets underway.
Robbie Slater says big signings are what the A-League needs if it wants to revitalise the sport in Australia.
"They [fans] look at the Hyundai League and think I want to go but give me a reason," Slater said on Triple M Sydney.
"I think signings like this, the three big ones, Del Piero in Sydney, Heskey in Newcastle and Shinji Ono in Western Sydney brings these people [to the game]," Slater told Matty, Gus and MG.
The former Socceroo star was talking about the much talked signing of Italian star Del Piero, former England ace Emile Heskey and Japanese star Shinji Ono for the 2012/13 season.
Robbie added for newcomers Western Sydney it was "all about survival for the long term."
The Fox Sports commentator said the team was strong and even with an assistant coach stepping up to big role in Popovic "hopefully they're going to have a good kick off."
